September is here and it brought a little cooler weather with it. The days are still pretty warm but the mornings and afternoons are rather cool when compared to the temperatures about a month ago. We are still waiting on “for sure” dates of when we will be heading home but those dates are not set yet. I am still hoping for early next year but prepared to stay later if that is what happens.
I recently contacted my assignment branch to see if there was anything available for me to move into once I get back from here and the choices were pretty slim, Ft Hood, TX, Korea or Germany. I was also told that I was being considered for a DAR job which would be in Seattle, Atlanta or Germany but most likely Seattle. Since it looks as though my retirement plans may be put on hold, Paula and I decided to try to take our future into our hands and volunteer for the DARR job. Perhaps we will get an answer sooner rather than later and we can start planning our move. Just think, if we get Seattle, mom and dad will only have to go one place to see both sons. Now that seems like a bargain.
Not much else is going on here, mostly the same as a month ago with a little preparation to go home mixed in. I appreciate all the boxes of goodies that you all are sending; it sure is nice getting a piece of home once in a while.
