It’s been a long hard week.

This has been a hard week. Last Sunday Paula told me that our youngest cat had been found dead in the neighbor’s back yard. It was apparently attacked by either a dog or coyote. We only had her for about a year but she fit right in and became part of the family. Then not two days later, we found out that Hydee had a growth near her intestine that was causing her not to be able to keep food down or gain weight. She went in for surgery on Wednesday morning and the doctor removed part of her intestine wear the growth was that may possibly have been cancer. He said she was doing good but it would be a hard recovery. Paula went in to see her on Thursday and she was extremely week. By the time she had left and gotten home, she received a phone call telling her that she had passed away. Hydee was in the family since we lived in Savannah and she was definitely a special dog, she was my dog. She was getting old and her hips weren’t what they use to be but she always seemed to be in a good mood and always had a smile. She will be missed.

Some people don’t get why Paula and I get so emotional over “just an animal”. We take being pet owners very seriously and always treat our pets like they are part of the family. We treat our pets better than some people treat their own kids.

It just really bothers me that Paula had to deal with this all on her own with me being half way around the world.

Today is the start of a new week and I hope a better one. I guess on a good note, the Family Readiness Group has informed Paula that our deployment will now 12 months instead of 15. That sounds great but nobody here has been told that yet. I hope it is true and I will let everyone know once I find out for sure.

That is it for now. Talk to you next week.
